Guidance for setting up a modem
The modem
is available in different varieties for the communication process, and the most
important thing is that different modem is compatible which different devices.
So before purchasing a modem, you must check with the
compatibility of the modem is a Centurylink modem or any other Variety of
modem. One of the categories of Modem is Xfinity Modem that features a list of
several XFINITY
Approved Modems. The other category of the
modem is Comcast modem that features a list of several COMCAST Approved
Modems and is compatible with the Comcast
services.
Set-up
process of a modem
The basic
thing for better communication with the modem is the installation process. You
must set up the modem properly. Hence for setting up the modem, you may do it
yourself, or else you may call the installation person for the installation
process. If you are setting up a modem, you may require some materials like
power cord, green phone cord, yellow Ethernet cable, activation letter, and
envelope, a device to connect to the internet, and, most importantly, the
modem.
In the
second step, you need to plug the internet and landline phone in the modem and
VOIP for the speed of the modem. In the third step, you need to place a modem
in a place where it could provide you with proper performance. The important
thing that you need to keep in mind is that you should see the modem away from
heat. After placing the modem, connect the power code into the power outlet and
wait for two to three minutes until you see the power light goes green.
In the
fifth step, connect the phone cord and one end of the phone cord plugged into
the phone jack in the wall and place the end into the DSL port of the modem
then wait for four to six minutes until the DSL light turns on. If it is a
wireless modem, then find SSID and key/passphrase on the bottom of the modem.
And if it is a cable one, then plug one end of the cable into your device and
then other ends of the cable to one of the yellow ports that are available on
the backside of the modem.
Then in
the last step, check with the color of the light it is green, orange, or you
are not getting any light. If the light is green, then you have successfully
installed the modem, and in case it is orange, then the modem is taking time to
activate.
